In center of Lieksa (less than 3 kilometers) is the number of many kind of shops, supermarkets, hairdressing salons and cosmetologists, restaurants, high-class Alko, pubs, karaoke, nightclub, dance restaurant, travel agency, a movie theater, etc. Population of Lieksa is about 13 000.
During the summer celebrated Brass Week, when the whole of town is full of people. In winter there is also organized many different events, especially in Christmas and Easter time.
Lieksa has a very high quality swimming pool, ice rink, gym, tennis hall and a sports field, as well as a ski resort. Beaches is just the center of several. Parks are well-known managed and beautiful.
Lieksas most important tourism destinations are in Ruunaa (a popular fishing and hiking area), Koli (National Park, and two ski center) and village Vuonislahti. In winter, Koli can sue over Pielinen along iceroad, the ferry operates between port Lieksa and Koli from spring to autumn.
